UN Goals Title
Oceaneering is committed, where possible, to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in the environments in which we work and in the fields of gender equality, human rights and quality education.
Number 3

Whether it is a blood drive in Azerbaijan, a local soccer match in the U.K., a cricket game in India or the annual Heart Walk Fundraiser in Houston, benefiting the American Heart Association, Oceaneering employees are actively focused on good health and well-being.

Number 4

Every child deserves a quality education. Oceaneering actively support science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs around the world, including the MATE International ROV Competition, NASA in Aberdeen, and other events and internships.

Number 5

We are committed to ensuring that no modern slavery or human trafficking occurs in our business or supply chain. Our Oceaneering Women’s Network offers networking and career enrichment opportunities to help women and men achieve their full career potential.

Number 7

We are committed to the research and development of products and services that enable our clients to produce energy safely and securely, with decreased risk to both humans and sea life, and create a lower cost of ownership.

Number 10

We heavily invest in the countries in which we operate to provide local workforce training that includes practical workshops, simulators, and other online programs. We are also committed to closing the gender pay gap and reporting our progress.

Number 14

We are committed to reducing marine pollution. Our newbuild MSV Ocean Evolution is an ecologically-friendly subsea construction vessel, holding a Green Passport, equipped with low-emission EPA Tier 4 diesel engines. See our other technologies below.

Research and Development

Our Research and Development efforts focus on introducing technologies that improve work activities and efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
Our objective is to engineer the low carbon future with our advanced technologies. To accomplish this goal, we are working to advance remote operations, which reduces carbon footprints by transferring offshore workers to onshore control centers, which allows for less risk, greater collaboration and faster response.
Wind 12

As a trusted subsea engineering partner, Oceaneering has transferred its extensive knowledge to the Offshore Renewables market. Oceaneering is able to provide field development through to decommissioning services, including seabed preparation, route clearance, trenching services,  survey, installation and commissioning, and inspection, maintenance and repair services.

Mission Support Center

Our Remote Piloting and Automated Control Technology (RPACT) diminishes operational and environmental risks by reducing the need for personnel on board and related mobilization requirements.

Our Onshore Control Center, launched in 2016, provides a remote base for customer representatives, additional ROV pilots and subject matter experts who are available 24/7 to meet any challenge.

E-ROV

Our E-ROV (Empowered ROV) is a self-contained, battery-powered, work class vehicle capable of carrying out inspection, maintenance and repair, commissioning, and underwater intervention activities. E-ROV is controllable from one of our onshore control centers, with communication provided by a 4G/LTE broadband network from the buoy, thus eliminating the need for a dedicated support vessel.

Freedom Pipe Inspection 2000px

Freedom ROV is our newest resident vehicle. It is supported by a docking station at the seabed and is capable of operating in autonomous and tethered modes. In tethered mode, Freedom can be flown from our onshore control centers.

Industry Leadership

To help reduce the environmental impact of our operations, we work together with several organizations to lend aid and resources, increase public awareness and assist with educational, research and leadership programs.
PESA Logo

The Petroleum Equipment & Services Association (PESA) promotes innovation, health, safety and the environment, education, workforce development, energy security and job creation. Oceaneering supports PESA through the election of our President and CEO Rod Larson as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the 2019-2020 term. Our Director of Compliance, Jock Pool, serves as co-chair of PESA's Environmental, Social and Governance Committee.

Company page Since our founding in the early 1960s, Oceaneering has expanded and grown globally to service several industries such as the offshore energy industry, defense, entertainment, material handling, aerospace, science, and renewable energy industries. In 1964, Mike Hughes and Johnny Johnson formed a Gulf of Mexico diving company called World Wide Divers. The company grew in response to increasing demand for their services and in 1969 merged with two other diving companies to form Oceaneering International, Inc. To solve the toughest challenges, we do things differently, creatively, and smarter. As your trusted partner, our unmatched experience and truly innovative portfolio of technologies and solutions give us the flexibility to adapt and evolve, regardless of market conditions. Our mission is to solve the unsolvable. We thrive by creating industry-changing technically creative solutions for the most complex operational challenges under water, on land, and in space. Our five core values establish a common culture and demonstrate what is most important for us as a company. Since the beginning, the company has transformed from a small regional diving company into a global provider of engineered products and services. Today, we develop products and services for use throughout the lifecycle of an offshore oilfield, from drilling to decommissioning. We operate the world's premier fleet of work class ROVs. Additionally, we are a leader in offshore oilfield maintenance services, umbilicals, subsea hardware, and tooling. We also serve the aerospace, defense, and theme park industries. Underpinning everything we do, safety is not only the foundation of our core values, but it is vital to our unmatched performance record and company culture. The industries we serve are as diverse as they are complex. Whether we are engineering deepwater umbilicals or developing robotics for aerospace applications, the safety and health of our employees, vendors, and customers is an integral part of our day-to-day business. If we are working, then our responsibility is to be working safely. Since our inception in 1964, we have placed a high value on employee safety—from diving services and subsea inspection to vessel-based installation operations. We have and will continue to evolve not only our health, safety, and environmental (HSE) processes, but those of the industries in which we work. Although we have been fatality-free since 1999, our HSE journey goes beyond statistics. As our portfolio of services has grown, we have continued to prioritize and advance our approach to HSE.
